Germantown Property Plans: Essex Development’s Vision for New Residential and Retail Building
Exciting plans are underway for the redevelopment of a Germantown property on Jefferson Street, led by Essex Development, a Kentucky-based development company. Having acquired the property for $12.95 million in December 2021, Essex Development is currently finalizing plans for a new building on the site.
While details are still preliminary, Matt Williams, Managing Partner of Essex Development, revealed that the future building is likely to offer a mix of uses, including residential and retail space. The exact number of stories for the building has not been disclosed yet, but Williams mentioned that the project is being worked on in collaboration with Smith Gee Studio, a locally-based architecture firm, and Barge Design Solutions, a Nashville-based engineering and land-planning firm.
Williams expressed his confidence in the project, stating, “As a Nashvillian, I believe deeply in this city, and I’m proud that this project will help meet the demand for high-quality residential options for the community and foster job growth while delivering exciting new retail and dining spaces.” He also emphasized that the project will be designed to blend harmoniously with the architectural fabric of the neighborhood, in keeping with the character of Germantown.
Essex Development is also in the process of finalizing details for another project in Rutledge Hill, as well as owning the property that houses The Batter’s Box, a popular old-school tavern. With their track record of successful developments and commitment to creating innovative and community-oriented spaces, Essex Development’s plans for Germantown are eagerly anticipated by residents and stakeholders alike.
