Essex Development Unveils ‘The Hill Marketplace & Community Arts Center’ in Nashville’s South Bank District
Essex Development has exciting news for the Nashville community as it announces its latest commercial development project, “The Hill Marketplace & Community Arts Center” (referred to as “The Hill”), set to open in the city’s new South Bank District later this Spring. This innovative project aims to create a unique platform where art and culinary experiences come together, transforming a vacant 27,000-square-foot former souvenirs warehouse into a vibrant community space.
Art and culture take center stage at The Hill, with the walls of the space adorned with a gallery of over a dozen original murals painted by local artists, including acclaimed local muralist Eric “Mobe” Bass. The space will be thoughtfully divided into multiple uses, including a boutique farmer’s market, retail marketplace, and a live performance stage, offering a diverse range of experiences for visitors.
The Hill will also feature an exciting addition to Nashville’s culinary scene, with food trucks housed inside the space by widening the entrance of the former loading dock. In addition, plans include a coffee house and cocktail bar, providing a cozy spot for socializing and enjoying delicious treats. But The Hill’s offerings go beyond food and retail – it will also incorporate podcast and music studios, serving as an incubator for up-and-coming local artists and musicians to hone their craft.
Essex Development is also committed to supporting the community by partnering with the non-profit organization Nashville Children’s Theatre. The Hill will donate space to potentially expand the organization’s course offerings and host select live shows, further enriching the arts and cultural scene in the area.
Matt Williams, Managing Partner of Essex Development, envisions The Hill as a vibrant gathering place for the community, supporting local artists and businesses alike. This exciting new project promises to be a dynamic addition to Nashville’s South Bank District, providing a unique and engaging space where art, culinary delights, and community converge.
As The Hill Marketplace & Community Arts Center prepares to open its doors later this Spring at its prime location at 34 Rutledge Street, Nashville residents and visitors alike can look forward to experiencing this innovative and dynamic space where creativity and community thrive. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project as it unfolds!
